A friend of mine has asked me (a relative Mac head) whether there is a package that will back up a large number of photo image files, totaling more than the capacity of a single DVD, to multiple DVDs, without his having to manually divide the pile into chunks small enough to fit in a DVD, then back each up individually.

I'd like to say that QRecall is that answer, but I'm afraid not. The very nature of QRecall makes splitting backups across removable media impossible.

I would check out Toast Titanium by Roxio http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/toast/titanium/overview.html. It can span large folders of data across multiple discs.
